A steward can be asked to do many jobs, from collecting an entrance fee or ushering a parade to dealing with a lost child. The stewards' handbook is intended to be a quick reference guide to the various aspects of all the jobs a steward may be asked to turn a hand to.

We are using terms such as Venue Manager, Campsite Steward, Task Force, Artist Liaison, Steward and indeed festival volunteer without any real indication as to what these roles actually mean. We are attempting to obtain an agreed view as to the expectations and requirements associated with each of these roles.
